Tracee Ellis Ross is the latest star in Hollywood to speak up about sexual harassment, but not as an accuser or a victim. Instead, she wants to set the record straight on what is and is not considered sexual misconduct.
In a segment for Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the 45-year-old actress explains that it isn’t “a sex scandal, it isn’t a Hollywood scandal, it isn’t even a scandal. It is a systemic problem about the abuse of power that takes place across all industries and has enabled a culture of inequity to persist for far too long.”
She references the countless women and men who have opened up publicly about their experiences of sexual harassment, and explains that some people seem not to understand what the big deal is.

To clear the air, Ross wrote a parody-style children’s book that while at first may appear funny, makes you realize how serious the problem really is. Called The Handsy Man, the book is essentially a dummy guide for not harassing other people.

“There is a guy with 10 long fingers, creepy glares, and hugs that linger. If you’re a woman, you’re not a fan. I speak, of course, of The Handsy Man,” she reads. “Listen and I’ll explain to you all the things you may not do.”
She moves on to outline what is considered inappropriate. “And if I am your employee, don’t rest your hand upon my knee. No, I won’t sit on your lap. I shouldn’t have to say this crap,” she adds.
