Following an absurd transfer window linking him with a move away from Lyon, Houssem Aouar has not seen much playing time under Peter Bosz this season so far.
Discussing his lack of playing time, Aouar revealed his disappointment at failing to make the team for a long time. Speaking to L’Équipe, he admitted that it had been the manager’s decision not to include him in the starting XI since August 5. The Lyon-born midfielder said:
“It’s complicated. It’s getting long. When you are a player, you want to be on the pitch no matter what. So it’s obviously difficult. But it is what it is. All I can do is be patient. Moreover, it is always more complicated when the team is not doing well. It hurts to see teammates in difficulty like that without being able to help them.”
When asked to elaborate on his absence, the 24-year-old midfielder added:
“Ah, I can’t answer, sorry. In fact, it’s not for me to answer. You have to ask the coach.”
In the 2022/23 season, Aouar has made only one club appearance of 30 minutes, which came in Lyon’s 2-1 win over Ajaccio on the opening matchday of the new Ligue 1 campaign.
