This year’s National Crime Records Bureau report will have a detailed analysis of crime data under specific categories which were not included in the previous reports.
Times of India reported that this year’s report will also include offences such as attacks on journalists, RTI activists, hate crimes, lynchings and fake news. This will be the first time that crimes which have been discussed widely in the public sphere will also find a place in the report under proper categories.
Though the NCRB is late in releasing its annual report, the 2017 edition will most likely come out before the 2019 elections. It will include incidents such as “lynching by five or more persons”, “mercilessly beating” or “crushing by vehicles” among murders and other gruesome assaults.
