KARL CAULFIELD STRUCK a second half winner as Cobh Ramblers got the better of Shelbourne at Tolka Park tonight.
The former Avondale midfielder, playing only his second game since the passing of his father, found the back of the net with a superb lob on 50 minutes to send the Cork club top of the First Division.
At the Regional Sports Centre, Waterford and UCD played out 1-1 draw to sit second and third in the table respectively.
Jason McClelland put the Students in front in the fifth minute of time added on at the end of the first half, but David McDaid hit back for the Blues on 72 minutes.
In the night’s other game, Wexford and Cabinteely had to settle for a point apiece. Cabo’s Kevin Knight fired home from close range on 17 minutes, before Mark Slater equalised from a free-kick midway through the first half.
Longford Town and Athlone Town meet in the Midlands derby tomorrow [7.30pm].
