In a shocking moment that we’re still trying to get to the bottom of, former WWE Superstars Enzo Amore and Big Cass jumped the rails at Madison Square Garden this Saturday night, crashing Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s G1 Supercard event.
The incident occurred immediately following a Fatal 4-Way tag team match that saw Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa, Bullet Club’s Gurrillas of Destiny, walk away with both the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Championships and the ROH World Tag Team Championships.
Enzo and Cass attempted to hit the ring but Bully Ray, who competed earlier in the night, saw what was happening backstage and immediately ran out. Bully and The Briscoes, as well as others ringside, fought back and forth with the former WWE stars for several minutes — all while cameras focused all their attention on the brand new champions in the ring.
Commentary at The Garden did not even mention the attack and focused solely on the title change and the tag team match we had just seen, while the crowd rained down boos and rang out with a loud “F*** YOU ENZO” chant.
The obvious question is — is this shocking attack a work, or a shoot? The trouble is, there’s evidence for both sides.
The pay-per-view stream completely avoiding the incident seems to indicate that it was unplanned, and something both companies wanted to ignore publicly. The fight also looked incredibly real, as The Briscoes and Bully were definitely laying in some of their punches.
On the other hand, no real security hit the ring to help out during the situation. Bully also ran to the ring almost immediately, which may indicate that he knew it was coming and that was the plan all along. The fight also went on for quite some time, with Enzo and Cass leaving through the crowd after things broke down multiple times.
With the two seemingly leaving the arena, the Guerrillas of Destiny finally made their way up the ramp as cameras continued to focus on them, until match graphics aired for the next bout – ignoring the situation completely.
Enzo and Big Cass just jumped the rails at MSG. Bully ran out and he and The Briscoes beat the absolute shit out of them.
Screens intentionally not showing it. This was while GOD was in the ring celebrating. They are STILL fighting. pic.twitter.com/GEWBxsbCzB
