The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships are finally coming to the NXT brand.
Bayley and “The Boss” Sasha Banks returned to the black-and-yellow team back in February to announce that the belts could in fact be defended on NXT programming. A match never materialized, however, and the duo dropped the titles less than two months later at WrestleMania.
The current champions, “Empress” Asuka and the “Pirate Princess” Kairi Sane, collectively known as the Kabuki Warriors, will return next Wednesday night to defend the women’s tag team championships against Dakota Kai and Tegan Nox.
This will be Asuka’s first time appearing in an NXT ring since Takeover: Brooklyn III a little over two years ago, where she successfully defending the NXT Women’s Championship and her record-setting undefeated streak against Ember Moon. She vacated the title shortly thereafter due to injury, and was called up to the main roster in October 2017.
