Pete Dunne recently reached a very impressive milestone in WWE. The Bruiserweight is celebrating 600 days as NXT UK champion.
It’s a major accomplishment for Dunne, especially since fans perhaps never imagined him as a WWE Superstar. Dunne gained a national spotlight when he competed in the tournament to crown the first-ever NXT UK champion in January 2017.
Dunne worked his way through the tourney and faced Tyler Bate in the finals. Bate won the match and the championship, but lost it to Dunne just five months later.
Pete Dunne began his WWE career as a heel and was one of the best in the company’s new British Invasion. But the fans almost immediately began popping for Dunne, causing the NXT UK champion to eventually turn babyface.
Pete Dunne is now the longest reigning champion in WWE and shows no signs of slowing down. But his next title defense will come at Takeover: Blackpool on January 12 and many feel that could be Dunne’s last ride as champion. He will be facing Joe Coffey, who has a ton of momentum going into the match and may indeed become the next NXT UK champion.
Call him Mr. 6⃣0⃣0⃣, because @petedunneyxb just made history as #WWEUK Champion.
