After this week’s WWE Backlash “go-home” edition of SmackDown Live went off the air, John Cena ran down to make the save for WWE Champion Dean Ambrose, who was getting beat down by AJ Styles. This lead to the dark match main event.
The post-show dark match for the live crowd inside the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska saw John Cena and Dean Ambrose score a victory over Bray Wyatt and AJ Styles in tag-team action. The match saw Wyatt and Styles taking turns isolating Cena in the ring, while they remained in control of the action. Eventually, Cena made the hot tag to Ambrose, who reversed a Sister Abigail attempt from Wyatt into his Dirty Deeds finisher for the pinfall victory.
