The #4 St. Cloud State University wrestling team (7-0, 1-0 NSIC) will open competition at the upcoming NWCA Division II National Duals on Saturday, Jan. 12 with a 9 a.m. match against UNC-Pembroke. This two-day tournament will be held at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Springfield, Ill.
The Huskies are the defending NWCA Division II National Duals champion and they will bring a 33 dual match win streak into the tournament this weekend in Illinois. The NWCA Division II National Duals features the nation’s top wrestling programs and the two-day tournament will continue through Jan. 13 in Springfield, Ill. – the home of another famous wrestler President Abraham Lincoln. Of note, SCSU is the #4 seed at the tournament.
The schedule of matches on the first day of competiton at the NWCA Division II National Duals will also include #1 seed Nebraska Kearney vs. UW-Parkside at 9 a.m., #8 seed Findlay vs. Minnesota State at 9 a.m., #5 seed Upper Iowa vs. Kutztown at 9 a.m., #3 seed Central Oklahoma vs. Minot State at 11 a.m., #6 seed Grand Canyon vs. Limestone at 11 a.m., #7 seed Notre Dame vs. Augustana at 11 a.m. and #2 seed Newberry vs. Fort Hays State. The tournament is a double-elimination format and the Huskies’ opponents in the next rounds of competiton will be determined by the results throughout the day.
