No. 9 Augustana (0-0) continues competition in Kearney, Neb. for the Holiday Inn Open on Saturday, Nov. 21. The whole team will be traveling to Kearney.
Vikings place eight at the Dakota Wesleyan Open
Augustana competed last weekend at the Dakota Wesleyan Open hosted by Dakota Wesleyan University. David Potratz went 4-0 and took home the 133-pound title, Potratz defeated teammate Adrian Lozano in the semifinals, then went on to defeat Northwestern Preston Hoebelheinrich in the 9-3 decision in the title match. Aero Amo also went 4-0 to take home the 184-pound title at the open would get a 12-6 decision over Tyree Cox from Northwestern in the finals. Michael Lowman would win the 285-pound division. This is the second year in a row Lowman has won the 285-pound title at the Open. Bailey Neises took second in the 149-pound bracket wrestling unattached. Colin Ayers (149) and Tim Weber (174) took home third in their respective weight class. Mitch Rechtzigel (165) and Zach Determan (174-Unattached) delivered fourth-place finishes.
Augustana ranked in the top-20
Augustana opens the season at No. 9 in the top-20 preseason poll. All-American and two-time national runner-up TJ North comes in ranked No. 2 in the 125-pound category.
NSIC Preseason Poll
Augustana was picked to finish second in the NSIC behind No. 1 pick St. Cloud State. Aero Amo was ranked first at 184 pounds. North(125), Jeremiah Peterson(149), Jacob Anderson (149), Shawn Hatlestad (157) and Weber (174) were all ranked second in the NSIC.
