St. Cloud State University junior Brett Velasquez (Bennington, Neb.) has been selected as the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wrestler of the Week for Feb. 5-11.
Velasquez a 22-7 tech fall win in the time of 6:28 over No.6 ranked Maleek Williams of Upper Iowa on Feb. 8 in St. Cloud, Minn. The victory completed a 33-6 dual victory for the Huskies over No. 6 ranked Upper Iowa.

He is now 21-2 on the season and ranked No. 5 in the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings. Velasquez is a two-time All-American for the Huskies and the 2016 NCAA champion at 125-pounds and is now 71-7 in his collegiate career.
HUSKIES CLAIM A SHARE OF 2018 NSIC TITLE!
Following last week’s results, St. Cloud State (18-0, 7-0 NSIC) claimed at least a share of its seventh straight NSIC title. The Huskies gained the top spot thanks to a 22-15 victory by Upper Iowa over Augustana on Feb. 11. Augustana moves to 11-3, 6-1 NSIC with the loss. Upper Iowa ended its NSIC season with a 6-2 record. The Huskies can claim sole possession of the top spot in the league standings on Feb. 15, as they host Augustana in Halenbeck Hall at 7 p.m.
SCSU has now won NSIC titles in 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2013 and 2012 under the direction of head coach Steve Costanzo.
Fans should also make plans now to attend the 2018 NCAA Division II Super 3 Regional, which will be held in Halenbeck Hall on Feb. 23-24.
