The New England Patriots will play the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII. The Super Bowl will be played on Sunday, Feb. 3, with kickoff set for 6:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast on CBS and can be heard locally on WBZ-FM 98.5 The Sports Hub and nationally on WEEI-FM 93.7 from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
New England advanced to the Super Bowl by beating the Kansas City Chiefs, 37-31, in the AFC Championship Game Sunday evening. The Rams beat the New Orleans Saints, 26-23, in a controversy-marred overtime win.
The Patriots and Rams will be playing 17 years to the day of their Super Bowl XXXVI meeting. New England beat the then St.-Louis Rams, 20-17, on Adam Vinatieri’s field goal as time expired. The Patriots were then the biggest underdogs to win a Super Bowl. Tom Brady won the Super Bowl MVP to cap his first year as a starter.
Brady has gone on to win three more Super Bowl MVPs and four more Super Bowl rings during what has been an unprecedented dynastic run by New England.
How times have changed: The Rams will be led by a 24-year-old quarterback in Jared Goff and a 32-year-old coach in Sean McVay. Brady, who was 24 when he beat the Rams, is now 41.
