THERE WERE JUBILANT scenes in Murrayfield as Joe Schmidt’s Ireland lifted the Six Nations trophy for the second consecutive year.

Captain Paul O’Connell and his teammates were presented with the trophy in front of around 10,000 Irish supporters, who stayed behind following the win against Scotland earlier in the day and lived every moment of England’s clash with France.

Those who stuck around were rewarded for their support as O’Connell and co. drenched each other in champagne and danced around the Murrayfield turf, the joy and relief after an intense eight-week campaign bursting out.
