Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a busy man with the World Cup in Qatar and PSG’s negotiations for the Parc des Princes. However, he still had time to answer a few questions about PSG’s footballing activities in an interview covered by L‘Équipe.
When asked about the winter transfer market the PSG president had this to say, “We’ll see, but I don’t think so. We don’t need anyone. We have to keep the same team. I think we have found a collective spirit and that we are well.“
Nasser has not always had the best reputation as having a good relationship with his coaches when it comes to the transfer market. However, in response to the question of Christophe Galtier and Luis Campos request for a defender he stated, “They didn’t ask for anything because they understand. We all talk together. I respect the coach a lot, I appreciate him a lot because he has human values. He is a very good coach.“
There were some reports that the PSG president did not have Galtier as his first choice, but he seemed to clear that up also, “Another incredible comment we read. It’s not true! Otherwise, I would never have signed him. He is one of the two coaches for whom I have the greatest respect.“

He also spoke about his thoughts on the recruitment and work of Luis Campos stating, “Honestly, it’s great. The players need to adapt to the team, to the city, to the level too. Afterwards, there are a lot of matches, injuries. But I am very happy. We bought French, young people. We are also building for the future. And we haven’t lost (13 wins, 2 draws in 15 days)! The team is growing, it is playing better and better.“
Nasser spoke about Luis Campos and Antero Henrique working together stating, “I won’t hide it. There were issues between the two. It’s true. But, it’s nothing personal. In fact, each has somewhat entered into the work of the other. That’s why we decided to stop it. Antero did a very good job in sales, loans… Luis also on his side. But it’s hard to have two heads. It’s just a communication thing. Antero will stay but he will no longer manage the first team. He will help Braga (QSI took 22% of the club) and we will go for another club as well.“
The PSG’s president was asked once again about PSG’s chances in the Champions League with their attacking trio. His answer echoed the words that he has spoken in the past, “I already said it before the season. Step by step. It’s the end of the World Cup already… then Ligue 1. And in February, we will face Bayern.“
PSG sit in first place in Ligue 1 with a five point lead. This season Kylian Mbappé, Neymar and Messi have come together and look in top form. Nasser Al-Khelaifi will feel confident with his current roster and the direction the club is heading.
