Get French Football News understands that Cercle Brugge centre-back Jesper Daland (22) is being lined-up for a move to satellite club AS Monaco, although the timing of any potential deal remains unclear.
The Norwegian centre-back, who joined the Belgian top division side the summer of 2021, has been training with Philippe Clement’s side during their mid-season training camp in Benidorm. He featured in the Principality side’s friendly against Sevilla earlier this month before returning to Belgium.
However, sources contacted by Get French Football News have confirmed that Daland will feature again for Monaco in a friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday. Het Nieuwsblad reported earlier in December that Daland had impressed Clement, which explains the decision to take the player to Italy to feature once again for Les Monégasques.
Monaco sporting director Paul Mitchell often references the “synergies” between the two clubs. Many players make the trip between the two clubs, which are both owned by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev. Last summer, Thomas Didillon joined Monaco on a season-long loan with Radoslaw Majecki moving in the opposite direction.
The inclination is for Daland to complete the current season with Cercle Brugge before joining Monaco in the summer. However, the situation could change, and a move during the January transfer window can’t be ruled out, especially if Daland impresses against Fiorentina.
