Everton are keen to make a move for out-of-favour Lyon striker Moussa Dembélé (26) this January transfer window, Foot Mercato are reporting.
The former Celtic forward has struggled to find his feet season, having scored only two goals in fourteen Ligue 1 games. Dembélé was an unused substitute when Lyon drew away at Nantes (0-0) and fell at home against relegation battlers Strasbourg (1-2). The Pontoise-born striker will be out of contract this June – meaning Les Gones have no choice but to cash in now in order to recoup some of the €22m fee they paid for him in 2018.
Foot Mercato are reporting that nineteenth-placed Premier League side Everton are considering a bid for Dembélé. The Toffees’ management were reportedly willing to wait until the summer to sign the Frenchman on a free, but urgency around the lack of attacking threat in Frank Lampard-led side appears to have put the plan forward. The outlet added that Everton are looking to sign a winger, and Ghanaian Stade Rennais’ left-winger Kamaldeen Sulemana (20) would be their target of choice.
