The fan who attacked Bret “Hit Man” Hart live during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony yesterday is currently arrested at NYPD’s 78th Precinct in Brooklyn.
A law enforcement official told The Associated Press a 26-year-old man was in custody and facing criminal charges – two counts of assault in the third degree and disorderly conduct. The official was not authorized to discuss to the case and spoke on condition of anonymity. No name was released.

Third degree assault is prosecuted as a Class A misdemeanor and in many states, they are punishable by a maximum of one year in a county jail and a criminal fine. Description of third degree assault includes, “The person knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another person or with criminal negligence the person causes bodily injury to another person by means of a deadly weapon.”
In a brief statement, WWE said, “An over-exuberant fan surpassed our security at ringside and made his way briefly into the ring. The individual has been turned over to the proper authorities.”
With less security around the ring due to the new set-up of the Hall of Fame, inductees had to give their back to the crowd during their speech as they had to face the hard camera.
