For those that know me, they know that I’m a pretty big mark for Kurt Angle. He is easily in my top 10 of all time, ever since reading his book “It’s True! It’s True!” as a kid, to seeing what he could do in the ring, to seeing that he genuinely loves what he does and being in front of the crowd. Watch his WWE Hall of Fame acceptance speech, and that is the epitome of why I’ve loved Kurt. Yes, he has had his demons to deal with, but he’s been open and patient, and deserves his time in the spotlight, how ever much he might have left of it on camera.
Since Kurt’s return in the WWE, it has always been a matter of WHEN not IF he would be getting back in a WWE ring, and we were lucky enough to see it happen, almost by accident, when he was put in a matchup last minute, teaming up with Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins in a failed Shield reunion, when Roman Reigns was not medically cleared to participate.
Kurt was also thrust into an angle with his “illegitimate son”, Jason Jordan. We also saw Kurt Angle lead Team Raw to a victory against Team Smackdown at Survivor Series, but again, the was part of a multi-man tag match. So the question remained: When would Kurt Angle be part of a singles match, which could possibly be his last, and more importantly, who would be the opponent to face off against him.
It’s logical that his match might be saved for the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania, but we went ahead and broke down the top 5 most logical matches that we would want to see Kurt in. Disclaimer, this list doesn’t include things that could probably never happen (i.e. Hulk Hogan, Vince McMahon, Daniel Puder….you get the picture. Rather, current superstars that it would make sense to face off against.
