New Japan Pro-Wrestling has officially announced the bracket for the 2019 New Japan Cup, which will kick off Friday, March 8th.
In a bit of exciting news, this will be the biggest New Japan Cup in the 15-year history of the annual single elimination tournament. As previously announced, the winner will receive an opportunity to challenge “Switchblade” Jay White for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at the G1 Supercard in Madison Square Garden.
This year a staggering 32 men will compete for the right to headline the world’s most famous arena, featuring virtually every heavyweight star on the New Japan roster, as well as special guests from Ring of Honor and even a surprise outside acquisition — former NXT Superstar Nick Miller, also known as Mikey Nicholls.
The entire Cup will take place over the course of 12 events from March 8 to March 24, featuring live broadcasts on NJPW World for every single show, as well as live English commentary. We will also be providing live coverage of the entire tournament.
