WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart continues to be critical of Seth Rollins, as “The Hitman” has returned with more comments on the in-ring style of “The Architect.”
As Hart explains in a statement issued to Nick Hausman of WrestleZone.com, the legendary wrestling veteran shared his belief that Rollins must change his style of working in the ring before someone gets seriously hurt, or worse, killed.
“I take no great pleasure in saying ‘I told you so,’ but if you’re a professional wrestler and you keep hurting opponents and or yourself, clearly you’re doing it wrong,” said Hart after Finn Balor suffered a torn labrum in his match with Rollins at SummerSlam, resulting in him undergoing an operation in Birgmingham on Tuesday. “I wrestled a very realistic and physical style and not once in 23 years did I ever hurt one opponent ever.”
Hart continued, “Seth Rollins needs to improve his technique and become the safest wrestler in the business. I have great respect for Seth. I believe he’ll improve and hopefully stop hurting the talent before someone gets killed.”
Hart spoke of wrestlers having families and needing to be able to trust their bodies with the people they work with in the ring before adding Bill Goldberg and Samoa Joe to the list of those like Rollins, who he feels need to address the issue before more people get hurt.
In addition to the retired Goldberg, who gave Hart his career-ending concussion in WCW, Hart pointed to Joe’s finisher badly hurting Tyson Kidd, which he still uses in matches today, as another example of an instance where someone should have opened their eyes to what he feels is an issue that needs to be addressed.
“When I think of Samoa Joe nearly killing Tyson Kidd, then see him continuing to use that deadly finish of his, I just shake my head,” said Hart. “It’s not real, it’s only supposed to look real, wrestlers are not crash test dummies!”
