Hey guys, I just got back from the WWE Live Holiday Tour at the Citizen’s Business Bank Arena here in Ontario, California. The venue was only about half full and the upper section was completely empty. The Smackdown Live roster is here and we are ready to go. Sarah Schrieber was our host and Mike Rome was the ring announcer. Enjoy this edition of the Champ’s Report.
Match #1
Jeff Hardy vs Samoa Joe
Both men got a nice reaction here. Jeff didn’t even wait until Joe got into the ring to attack him. Hardy went after Joe with a flurry of early offense. Hardy connects with the Whisper in the Wind to get a near fall. Jeff charges at Joe, but Joe spiked him with his patented STO. Joe gets a mic and goes under the ring to pull out a six pack of beer. Joe says “Look at you Jeff. Disappointing us like you always do” Joe then cracks open one of the beer and drinks some. Joe tries to hit Jeff with the can, but he avoids it and hits the Twist of Fate (The beer flew out of Joe’s mouth). Jeff hits a running splash and got the 1-2-3.
Winner: Jeff Hardy
Good match, but the lack of a Swanton Bomb was noticeable. Save them for TV, Jeff.Match #2
The Colons and Andrade “Cien” Almas w/Zelina Vega vs Shelton Benjamin, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows
This started out as a comedy match. Shelton was trying to get the ref to “Too Sweet” him and he eventually did. Zelina got involved by causing distractions. A fun match, but nothing memorable. Anderson and Gallows put Primo away with the Magic Killer for the 1-2-3.
Winners: Shelton Benjamin, Karl Anderson and Luke GallowsMatch #3
Charlotte Flair vs Asuka
Both women received a huge reaction. I had a feeling that this would be the match of the night. I could not have been more right. I don’t think Asuka and Charlotte got the memo that this was a house show because they put on a 15-20 minute PPV caliber match. Both women emptied out their arsenals in this bout. Spears, Asuka Locks, Moonsaults, Planchas, even a Code Breaker by Asuka. Match ended when Charlotte went for a second Moonsault on a downed Asuka. Charlotte connected, but Asuka caught Flair with Asuka Lock. Charlotte was able to wiggle free and stack The Empress, but Asuka kicked out. Charlotte quickly tries to lock in the Figure 8, but Asuka gets Charlotte in an Inside Cradle 1-2-Charlotte reverses the pin and gets the 1-2-3.
Winner: Charlotte Flair
Incredible match. Both women got a nice post match ovation. Asuka raised Charlotte’s hand and they hugged.Match #4
The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Big E) vs The Bar (c) for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship
I guess Xavier Woods was given the night off because he was nowhere to be seen. A pancake fight broke out between the two teams. There was a lot of stalling and playing to the crowd in this one. Kofi did the robot at least 3 times during the match. Match ended when Kofi took out Cesaro on the outside. Big E was excited, but turned around and ate a Brogue Kick from Sheamus and the Celtic Warrior got the 1-2-3.

The IIconics come out and they bash the city of Ontario. They are having a dance contest against Lana (for some reason). Kay and Royce danced horribly and Lana danced well with some break dance moves. Lana wins and the IIconics accuse her of cheating. We have a match.
Match # 5
Lana vs Peyton Royce w/Billie Kay
Lana is still pretty green in the ring, but luckily this match was fairly short. Peyton had a pin on Lana while Billie held Peyton’s feet down. The ref caught it and was yelling at Billie Kay. This distraction allowed Lana to roll Peyton up for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Lana
The IIconics accuse Lana of cheating (again) and Billie Kay challenges Lana to a match. Here we go.Match #6
Lana vs Billie Kay w/Peyton Royce
This match only lasted a few seconds. Billie Kay had a waist lock on Lana, Lana with a Standing Switch and a roll up for the 1-2-3.
Winner: LanaMatch #7
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs Rusev for the United States Championship
Rusev Day chants went on for the entire match. The King of Strong Style also got his fair share of love from the WWE Universe. It was a very entertaining back and forth match. Rusev was going for the Accolade to win the title, but Nakamura slipped out and hit The Bulgarian Brute with a low blow to cause a DQ.
Winner: Rusev by Disqualification
Of course, this means Shinsuke Nakamura retains the United States Title. Rusev hit a jumping kick on the champion and laid the Title belt on Nakamura’s body.Main Event
“The New” Daniel Bryan (c) vs The Miz for the WWE Championship
This match was very strange. Daniel was in super heel mode, while Miz was a pure babyface. Miz started the “Yes” chants and event got the crowd to chant “Daniel Bella”. Bryan played the cowardly heel (like Miz) and Miz broke out Daniel’s moveset (Yes Kicks, Running Turnbuckle Dropkicks, etc). Miz connected with the Skull Crushing Finale 1-2-Daniel got his foot on the bottom rope. The Miz can’t believe it. Daniel Irish Whipped Miz, but Miz quickly hit the brakes because otherwise, he would have crashing into the referee. As soon as Miz turns around, Bryan connects with the Flying Knee for the 1-2-3.
Winner: And Still WWE Champion “The New” Daniel Bryan
