Being only one win away from securing her spot at Wrestlemania, WWE NXT Superstar Shayna Baszler has her eyes on Elimination Chamber, Becky Lynch, and the Raw Women’s Championship Title. The 39 year old two-time NXT Women’s Champion recently spoke with The New York Post, stating she doesn’t do fancy flips, dives, or aerial displays, but she will turn heads.
The Pay-Per-View event is set to take place this Sunday, March 8, 2020 (7:00 p.m. EST, WWE Network) between Baszler, Ruby Riott, Natalya, Liv Morgan, Sarah Logan, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Title holder Asuka. All six women will compete in the Chamber until there is only one contender left standing, who will earn a match at Wrestlemania 36 against current RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch for the title.
Baszler being responsible for one of the most shocking moments in WWE this year as she attacked WWE Women’s Champion Becky Lynch from behind, biting her in the back of the neck and coming up a smile covered in blood, she has declared, “I’m just gonna turn heads, and everything I do… it’s gonna make you raise your eyebrows and maybe put your hand in front of your kid’s eyes.”
Also during the interview, Baszler’s friendship with Ronda Rousey was brought up to which Baszler responded that she’s never been one “to stand on a mountain and wave the Ronda flag” for attention. Baszler went on to say, “I am glad that it’s not something the WWE has like forced down people’s throats. I’m not afraid. It’s not that I want to hide the fact that Ronda’s my friend. I don’t. But at the same time, I busted my ass just as hard as anyone else to do this, so I’m glad people can see it.”

Before her prominent turn in the Royal Rumble event, Baszler’s initial stint on Raw and SmackDown was part of an NXT invasion angle for Survivor Series. The NXT Women’s Division has earned an even bigger spotlight since then, with NXT champion Rhea Ripley defending her title against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania. Baszler noting she thinks the extra attention NXT has received is “cool”.
As for the “Four Horsewomen of MMA” partners Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke, Baszler says she would love to have her friends at work with her. She followed up saying she’s happy that Shafir and Duke are both getting their own professional opportunities stating, “We are not secluded in one place. I think it’s exactly where it needs to be.”
Shayna Baszler is still listed on the NXT roster, saying she won’t rule out showing up in NXT again. Baszler stated, “If there is something I feel needs to be done there, I’ll go and do what I need to do,” finishing the sentiment by adding, “Right now, I have this. Plan all the way to the end. That’s one of the laws of power. I have this going on and we’ll see what happens when this is done.”
