Two-time state champion Broc Berge of Mantorville has given a verbal commitment to attend the University of Iowa and wrestle for the Hawkeyes following his upcoming senior season.
Berge is a two-time state champion and three-time placer. He won the 195-pound Class AA state championship as a junior and the 189-pound title as a sophomore. He placed fourth at 189 pounds as a freshman. Berge finished his junior year with a perfect 48-0 record (including 28 pins) and enters his senior year with 152 career wins.
Berge was a USA Wrestling Junior Freestyle All-American placing second at 195 pounds in July.
He is ranked as the 25th overall senior recruit in the nation by InterMat and is projected to wrestle at 197 pounds for the Hawkeyes.
