SCSU Wrestling Ready for 2012-13 Campaign

Posted on October 21, 2020

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo announced the 2012-13 schedule for the Husky’s today.  SCSU will host six duals, one intra-squad match and the annual Holiday Inn/Husky Open.

SCSU’s first action of the season comes on Nov. 10 when the Huskies travel to Ames, Iowa., for the Harold Nichols Open.  Their November schedule will conclude on Nov. 17 when they travel to Moorhead, Minn., to compete at the Finn Grinaker Open.

SCSU’s will host its first home competition on Dec. 8 at the Annual Holiday Inn/Husky Open.  The Huskies will conclude 2012 with three home duals that include Concordia College on Dec. 11, Saint John’s University on Dec. 12 and the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference opener Minot State on Dec. 15.

SCSU will travel to the Grand Canyon Duals in Phoenix, AZ., on Jan. 5 as it takes on California Baptist University, Colorado Mesa University, Colorado School of Mines and Western State College.

The Husky’s will head to Springfield, IL., on Jan. 12-13 as they look to defend their NWCA National Duals Title.  The sixteen teams in the NCAA DII bracket will feature the best teams from around the country.

Their January schedule of events heat up as they host NSIC team MSU-Moorhead on Jan. 17 and travel to Kenosha, Wisc., for the Ranger Duals on Jan. 19.  The Husky’s continue their road swing against NSIC rivals Augustana College on Jan. 25 and Southwest Minnesota State on Jan. 26.

SCSU will look to wrap up its NSIC action as they host the University of Mary (Feb. 1), Northern State University (Feb. 7) and MSU-Mankato (Feb. 14).  The Huskies’ last away dual of the season will be on the road against the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Feb. 10.

This year’s Super Region 3 Championships will held in Waterloo, IA., on Feb. 24.  The NCAA DII Championships will run Mar. 8-9 in Birmingham, Alabama.

“We have great balance in our schedule as we see the top teams in the country from DI, II and III.,” said Costanzo.  “The strength of our line-up in these match-ups will be determined by the depth at each of our weight classes.  The competition is stiff, but that is what we are looking for as we prepare for postseason action.”
