FARGO, N.D. – Olympic gold medalist and world champion wrestler Rulon Gardner will speak at the Bison Sports Arena on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. following the 43rd annual Bison Open.
After overcoming numerous obstacles while growing up, Gardner is known for pulling one of the greatest upsets in Olympic wrestling history with his victory over Alexander Karelin in the gold medal round of the 2000 Summer Olympics. Karelin had been previously undefeated in 13 years of international competition.
In 2001, Gardner added a world championship to his list of accomplishments, making him the only American to ever win both a world and Olympic title in Greco-Roman wrestling. He also claimed a bronze medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He was a contestant on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” in 2011.
The event is presented by Legends of Gold National Training Center.
Tickets to the event are $15 and include Gardner’s speech, autographs and photos. Tickets are separate from, and do not include admission to, the Bison Open.
