Top NXT Star Backstage at Raw, Benjamin in NYC, Cena’s Next Role

The main event of NXT Takeover: Brooklyn III saw Drew McIntyre defeat Bobby Roode to win the NXT Championship. Adam Cole made his debut shortly after this, and Roode as champion almost seemed like an afterthought by the end of the show. As mentioned before, this was because Roode is rumored to be joining the main roster as a top star very soon. PWInsider reported that he was also backstage for last night’s Raw show, and that he was the only NXT star at the show as well. It is still not clear when Roode will be joining the main roster, but he is rumored to be joining the Smackdown roster when he does finally show up.
It appears that Roode is also joined by another incoming roster member in Brooklyn. PWInsider’s Mike Johnson also says that Shelton Benjamin is currently in New York. It was reported earlier this week that Benjamin had re-signed with WWE and he is expected to be coming to Smackdown very soon. The fact that he is in New York right now may indicate that he will show up on tonight’s Smackdown show from the Barclays Center, but that is not confirmed by any means. Shelton Benjamin has continued to surprise fans everywhere with his great athleticism, and he may be a great addition to either roster when he does return to WWE. Smackdown airs tonight at 8 pm ET on the USA Network
John Cena is continuing to make his mark in Hollywood. The now Raw superstar has a ton of film commitments lined up for him in the future, including a lead role in the Transformers spin-off movie Bumblebee. Screen Rant now reports that Cena is in consideration to take the lead role in the film adaptation of the classic 1980’s series Knight Rider. Comedian Kevin Hart is also in talks to portray KITT, the talking car from the original series that helped make the show become such a hit. Hart also starred with former WWE star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in Central Intelligence and the upcoming reboot of Jumanji. The roles are not confirmed at this point, but Cena is definitely in talks to take up David Hasselhoff’s iconic role.
