Originally named as Jonathan Good (Jon) born December 7th, 1985, now known by his ring name, Dean Ambrose, is not a stranger to the “school of hard knocks”. He knew responsibility at an early age as he basically had to raise himself as he resided in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is little wonder that Jon found solace in wrestling. He set his mind to studying older wrestling videos and became intrigued over the battles that took place between the WWF and WCW.
It wasn’t long before Jon had himself on the wrestling circuit and took the WWE Heavyweight Championship. Leading up to this was his growing passion for this sport. In his opinion, this compared to the real world was much more inviting and exciting. Jon was so enthusiastic about the Company that he would end up working for that rather than miss what was on TV about it he would make sure that he got good reception by duct taping his television to the edge of the fire escape. All it took was a flyer in his hand about the Heartland Wrestling Association and Jon knew what his destiny would be.
Jon have no problems fantasizing about himself being in the ring as he watch those like Jamie Noble, B.J. Whitmer and Brian Kendrick strut their stuff in this world of wrestling. Jon was adamant that this was to be his future. He embarked on this journey by first contacting Les Thatcher with many questions and finding out more about Thatcher’s wrestling camp.
The advice given back to him regarding going to college and participating in weight training is not what Jon had in mind. Instead he portrayed himself as being eighteen when in fact he was only sixteen as he showed up at the School, and was rejected because he finally came forth about his real age.
Not taking No for an answer Cody Hawk offered him a staff position until he became of age, which Jon readily accepted. This gave him the chance to watch the practices that he was so intrigued with. In ended up that Jon was allowed to enter into training at the age of seventeen, and under the watch of Cody Hawk he developed the same style.
His debut was under the name of Jon Moxley. There is no doubt that there was no turning back for Jon as he later went on to adopt the name of Dean Ambrose.
