One of the most popular members of the WWE roster just surprised a ton of NXT fans this past Thursday night. It has been reported that none other than SmackDown Superstar Rey Mysterio made an unannounced appearance during last night’s NXT live event in San Diego, California. San Diego is the masked wrestler’s hometown, so of course, the fans in attendance were absolutely delighted by the surprise. Rey Mysterio currently competes on the SmackDown roster and has been receiving praise lately for his matches against former NXT Champion Andrade. There are even rumors now that WWE may be considering partnership Mysterio, Andrade, and returning Luchador Sin Cara up as a tag team soon.

NXT Superstar Kona Reeves came down to the ring during the show and began to cut a promo on the California crowd. Reeves mocked the former world champion before attempting to ambush him. Mysterio then laid him out with a 619 before he went to the back. Mysterio is just the latest name from the main roster to make a surprise appearance in NXT. The likes of Tyler Breeze and The Revival have also followed this trend in recent months. Mysterio re-signed with WWE late last year and made his return during SmackDown’s 1000th episode in October. He still wrestles for the company every single week, and he will be involved in the men’s Royal Rumble match during the pay-per-view of the same name this Sunday night.
Another year, another highly-anticipated Royal Rumble pay-per-view is on the horizon for WWE. Before the Rumble matches begin each year, WWE will typically air a special “By the Numbers” video, which rattles off a list of different fun facts and statistics about the match. This year, WWE has decided to release that video early and post it onto their YouTube channel for all to see. Who has made the most appearances in a Royal Rumble match? Who has spent the longest amount of time in the match while still winning? What are the historically best and worst numbers that a wrestler can draw? All of these questions and more are answered in this year’s “By the Numbers” video, which can be viewed right down below:
