When the now former GFW released a press release to the wrestling press earlier today to announce that Bound For Glory event and the next round of TV Tapings were being held in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, the company once again reverted back to the Impact Wrestling name and the Global Force Wrestling name was absent entirely.
There were rumors now for a few weeks that Anthem Sports and Entertainment did not actually own the name of Global Force Wrestling completely and that “Chief Creative Director” Jeff Jarrett still had the rights to the name. Jarrett recently took a “leave of absence” from the show and with it seems to have taken the name with him.
There had been reports that Anthem was looking to get out of the wrestling business entirely due to the money that is needed to keep the promotion, whatever its name, running. The rumors have been flatly denied by Anthem and others within the company. However, having Jarrett leave and take the names with him is not a good sign that everything is smooth running.
While it is all but confirmed that Impact Wrestling is the name going forward, again, there hasn’t been any word on what will happen to the titles and the title belts that were brought in by Jarrett when he was brought back to run the creative side of things.
