What a sensation! Brazil was outclassed 0-3 (23-25, 21-25, 21-25) by Korea in their 3rd match of women’s volleyball tournament. 11.000 fans who visited the Ears Court do not regret. They could see the incredible play performed by Korean players, although they were doomed to fail, Hyung-Sil Kim’s wards shoved a wonderful game deserving the gold medalist from Beijing– Brazil.
The victory earned Korea a 2-1 win-loss record in Pool B while Brazil now stand at 1-2. It was the first victory of Korea over Brazil since the 2003 World Grand Prix snapping a 13-game losing streak to the hands of the Brazilians.
Once again, superstar Kim Yeon-Koung was unstoppable as she topped all the players in the match by scoring 21 points while Han Song-Yi added 16. Brazil’s Sheila Castro finished with 16 points and Fabiana Claudino and Fernanda Rodrigues each closed with 10.
After this failure, Brazil is threatened with the possibility of lack of promotion to the play-off phase. If Brazil did not win over China for 3 points and Turkey gained at least 2 points against Korea, Brasil could come back home.
Kim Yeon-Koung proved again that she is the best female volleyball player in the world and if she only has a power, Kim is unstoppable, indefensible and unblockable. Yes, I know. I am creating a new words, but Kim is worth doing it. Outstanding player!
For some time, I have fallen in love with the woman’s national team of Korea in volleyball. What the girls presents on the court is fantastic. Their true, pure, effortless joy in the game makes you can believe that first of all sport should delight everyone and not only should sport be concentrated to earn billions, but sport should make a sense of live for billions of people. It is the major reason why Pierre de Coubertain came up with the ideas of Olympism.
