While government efforts to clean river Ganga has tanked significantly with no major improvement in the state of the river, individual efforts reaping more results to clean the revered river. The government has failed to deliver to its commitments to clean the largest river of the country, also said to be the lifeline to millions of people, its tattered state has been a cause of concern.
In an effort to save Ganga and clean it up, a 40-member team undertook a month-long expedition and removed 55 tonnes of garbage. The team found the Ganga polluted all through its ‘Mission Gange’ expedition route of 1500 km from Haridwar to Patna.
The team was led by Everester Bachendri Pal.
