Although it feels like we’ve been waiting FOREVER for the Mean Girls musical to take center stage, it seems we finally have a release date—and no, not just for the show’s Washington D.C. premiere.
As previously reported, the production will debut at D.C.’s National Theatre on Oct. 31 and run through Dec. 3. From there, the musical will make its way to Broadway. According to Broadway World, the show will begin N.Y.C. rehearsals in February 2018 and offer preview performances from March 10 to 12—SO fetch!
Our expectations are (obviously) very high—but the talent behind the musical is fittingly amazing. Tina Fey has written the script, while Fey’s composer husband, Jeff Richmond, has composed the music, Nell Benjamin (Legally Blonde) is responsible for the lyrics, and the direction provided by The Book of Mormon’s Casey Nicholaw.
Suffice it to say, we’re very excited. It sounds like the musical is going to be pretty grool.
