While several parts of the country were ravaged by floods in recent months that caused widespread disaster and resulted in deaths of hundreds of people, Latur, the sixteenth largest city of Maharashtra, faced a lack of rainfall and water remains scarce for the local inhabitants.
But it has led by example in protecting its scarce water resources and all of us should learn from them.
As we know or see it unfold every year, the last day of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which is celebrated in many parts of the country, marks the end of the seasonal festivities and the day is celebrated with grandeur and charm as devout believers throng the mandaps in large numbers.
